Reverend Dr. Anthony Purcell

Reverend Dr. Purcell holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Emory University where he earned a fellowship with the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies, an M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School where he earned the Marvin H. Pope Prize in Biblical Hebrew and a B.A. in Christian Studies from Brewton-Parker College, earning the Award for Academic Excellence in Christian Studies. His studies and teaching have focused on the Old Testament, Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic, the New Testament, Hellenistic Greek, Ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean Art History, World Religions and Religious Studies and Theory. Anthony is a dear friend of the Semrau family and was instrumental in Emma going to Southeastern University.

As we count down to the big day to Emma and Monte’s wedding, we want to take a moment to honor three of our amazing bridal party members—Claude, Jordan, and Pat—two who have recently been deployed and one in Japan cannot make it. These incredible Air Force pilots and strategist are serving our country with strength and pride. We’re deeply grateful to Cody and Christian for stepping in without hesitation as they are dear friends from the academy and pilot training. Your support and heart mean the world. True friends.
